Dear Airmen and you seamen out there. T his is a story most of us know but we often tend to forget the important message in it for us. It's from the Matthew gospel chap 8 from the verse 23
23Then Jesus got into the boat and started across the lake with his disciples. 24Suddenly, a fierce storm struck the lake, with waves breaking into the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. 25The disciples went and woke him up, shouting, “Lord, save us! We're going to drown!”
26Jesus responded, “Why are you afraid? You have so little faith!” Then he got up and rebuked the wind and waves, and suddenly there was a great calm.
27The disciples were amazed. “Who is this man?” they asked. “Even the winds and waves obey him!”
But we do know who He is. The Man who rebuked the wind and calmed the waves same man who purchased us with His blood. He is the only real friend we have.
I have been a christian all my life but it is only five months I understood the reason why the blood of Jesus had to be shed for our salvation and why accepting Jesus as our personal Lord and Saviour is the ultimate way we can receive our salvation. The lady that explained the importance of Jesus' sacrifice told me his story: " One day, a little girl was discussing with her mum: - Mum, will I go to heaven? The mother saw that question as an opportunity to draw the girl's attention to all her bad actions. She replied - That will not be easy because you have not been a good girl lately. You have soiled the carpet with your glass of milk, you have broken three plates, you did not say your prayers before eating yesterday and....(a whole lot of other mischivious deeds). Not looking too disturbed, the girl asked again - Will you go to heaven mum? - Yes indeed. I will go to heaven Smiling the little girl said to mama - Then I will hold you tightly when you get to the entrance of heaven. God is too kind and would not have the heart to separate a mum and her daughter.
Is that not cute and true to some extend? God is love and He cannot deny love. But in the strict reality (and the gospel backs this...He replied, "My mother and brothers are those who hear God's word and put it into practice."Luke 8:21) that is not automatically applied.
But can God deny the will of His Own Son? He showed freely to die for us sinners and God did not oppose His decision. God will never oppose the decision of Jesus that is:" Fidel is under my blood. He has acknowledged Me as His master and saviour." Jesus is the Word of God made flesh and God cannot deny His Own Word. That's why I'm pressing in to remain under the Grace God gave me to be justified by the Sacrifice of Christ.
Let's read Jesus words again “Why are you afraid? You have so little faith". Let's remember those words next time on our approach on runway three six of Meigs Chicago the control goes like: " charlie bravo 7 over 8, visibility 6 miles, wind one one zero, twenty knots....". Let us be confident and trust in Him Let God take the control and bring you His Peace (that same peace which reached Horatio Spafford, in the midst of all his burdens, on a boat to UK and prompted him to write "It is well with my soul"). If Jesus is your co-pilot, that's great!!! If you would agree to switch seats with Him, that will be GREAT
There are so many good things in one's heart he/she needs to share with the world. First and for most, the Almighty God has the premiere seat in my heart. I know HE guides me in wisdom and in truth. My passion is aviation and I am now flaping my little wings expecting to fly one day high and far to give a helping hand around the world. I wouldn't mind singing or scratching the strings of my guitar along the way. Along this path I want to go with y'all under the protection of the Great I AM. I will also like to share my Christian and particularly Catholic Faith (through the lives of some Saints who are the patrons of airmen, St Joseph of Cupertino, St Theresa of Lisieux, Pope John XXIII, Our Lady of Loretto...) with y'all, whatever your faith is. There are things we do not always notice which are so cruxial but yet common to our basic lives.
